“Paul, Weiss lawyers have the opportunity to participate in an alternative work schedule program to help them achieve a better work/life balance. I have been on a flex-time schedule since I was a fifth-year associate and was elected partner in 2003. Today I participate in the program as a partner, and look forward to continuing to build my practice and serve my clients at the highest level while maintaining a satisfying work/life balance.”

Associate Life
Open Firm Culture: We have an active and collegial firm culture and offer you numerous opportunities to socialize with your co-workers, including:
Associates’ Opinions Matter: Associates prepare reviews of the partners and counsel they work with in an anonymous online survey. This feedback is used to foster healthy, constructive relationships between our lawyers. Associates are represented on many important committees in the firm, including recruiting, legal personnel and marketing.
Alternative Work Schedule Program: Our alternative work schedule program includes many innovative approaches with eligibility not limited to those with child care responsibilities. No service requirements or waiting periods are imposed — lawyers can seek to participate in the program when they first join the firm. There also is no maximum time that a lawyer can remain on an alternative work schedule. And to ensure participating associates continue to receive challenging work and stay on track, partners in each department serve as alternative work schedule advisors.
Parental Leave: Associates in the New York and Washington offices are provided a generous parental leave package that includes up to 18 weeks paid leave for new parents, combining a variety of parental, adoption, primary caregiver and disability leaves, as applicable.
Infant Transition: Lawyers returning to work after parental leave receive three months of full-time care for their infant at a child care center near our New York Office.
Child Care Assistance: We’ve made arrangements with quality child care providers in New York and Washington, D.C., who offer our lawyers access to screened and bonded caregivers for emergency situations on weekdays, weekends or evenings. Children can be cared for in a child care center or in your own home.
