One of the nice things about this department is its small size. Every matter I’ve worked on has involved myself and one of the two partners. It’s an open-door environment and they’re a great deal of fun to work with.

The work I do — tax and estate planning — impacts the clients personally. I just finished a big project that dealt with a particular family’s trusts — organizations with assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The project touched on each generation of the family and their corporate trustees.

It’s interesting too — I'm never bored. It’s a mix of federal and state gift, estate and income tax laws and state property law. We execute complicated and challenging projects. Nothing is routine; everything is new. The work we do is on the cutting edge of our field.
