Over the years, we’ve been the home to a number of extraordinary public service lawyers and government officials. We consider public service an honor, and many of our lawyers have left the firm for government and academic positions. Some have left and returned multiple times.
Jeh C. Johnson, former Paul, Weiss partner, has left the firm on three separate occasions to serve his country: first as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, next as general counsel of the U.S. Air Force and most recently as the current U.S. Department of Defense general counsel.
Exchanges like this between Paul, Weiss and the public service sector enrich our firm's skills, experience and training opportunities.
We’ve launched the careers of many prominent public servants, including:
- U.S. Attorneys
- Federal court judges
- Government officials including a former U.S. Secretary of Transportation
We’ve been enriched by accomplished public servants who have joined our ranks, bringing an irreplaceable store of knowledge and experience to our firm:
- A former U.S. senator, governor, and ambassador
- A former U.S. attorney general
- A special counsel to President Kennedy
- Prominent officials from the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
If you’re interested in making the transition to public service in the future, we're a great place to start.
